Stranded in the past after the DeLorean is damaged, Marty discovers that Doc is in danger of being killed by the outlaw Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen. As they work to fix the time machine, Marty must navigate the challenges of the Old West while trying to ensure that Doc survives. The film combines elements of science fiction, adventure, and comedy as it brings the popular time-travel trilogy to a satisfying conclusion.

The 1996 release follows the 1990 first release of the film on home video and has received a Case grade of 8.5 Mint and a Seal grade of 8 NM. The signatures have been certified by JSA.
