Description
The Return of the Living Dead VHS 1986 - CGC Home Video 9.2 and Seal A+, Slipcase, Vertical Overlap Seal, "Save A Bloody Fortune" 1987 Promotion Sticker, The Motor City Collection, HBO Cannon Video. The Return of the Living Dead, a 1985 horror-comedy directed by Dan O'Bannon, offers a gleefully anarchic spin on the zombie genre. Set in a medical supply warehouse, a group of employees accidentally unleashes a toxic gas that reanimates corpses in a nearby cemetery. Chaos erupts as the undead crave brains, leading to a frenzied battle for survival. The film was met with mixed reviews upon its release but has since amassed a devoted fanbase among lovers of zombie mayhem and dark humor. Fans applaud its irreverent and comedic take on the genre, its punk rock soundtrack, and memorable one-liners like "BRAINS!" and "Send more paramedics." The movie's energetic pacing and willingness to break the mold of traditional zombie lore have solidified its status as a cult classic. It continues to captivate viewers who revel in its zany and subversive approach to the undead, showcasing that even in the world of reanimated corpses, there's room for humor and creativity that fans enthusiastically embrace. This factory sealed VHS copy of The Return of the Living Dead is believed to have been produced in 1986/1987, as this was when the company transitioned from Thorn EMI to HBO Cannon Video. This comes after the first release Thorn EMI clamshell. It has a 1987 "Save A Bloody Fortune" Sticker and comes to us as part of The Motor City Collection, CGC Home Video's first Pedigree. The Motor City Collection is especially remarkable due to the fact that original purchaser would typically write the date that the item was purchased on the price tag, sometimes along with the store name or the street that the store was located on. Based on the handwritten notes on the price tag, this tape was originally purchased on 12-12-87 at a Walden Books location in Michigan. It has received a grade of 9.2 by CGC, with a Seal grade of A+.
The Motor City Collection is CGC Home Video's first VHS pedigree. The gentleman who originally assembled this unbelievable collection had purchased items as far back as the 1970s beginning with vinyl records. He would typically go out of his way to write the date of purchase on the price tags, as well as other identifiable info like a city, street, or store name. His collection was unknown to even his family until his passing. The majority of the items he'd purchased remained unopened in their original factory shrink wrap.
