The Thing VHS 1982 - IGS Box 8 NM and Seal 7.5 NM, First Release, Wraparound MCA Watermarks, Red MCAT Tape Etch, Two-Toned Tape, MCA Videocassette Inc. In 1982 John Carpenter's remake of the Howard Hawks produced The Thing From Another World hit cinema screens and landed with a audible thud. It was destroyed by critics who hated its cynical outlook and gory creature effects in a world that was enamored with the recently released and beloved E.T. It's hard to believe this reaction since The Thing is now considered by many to be a John Carpenter's masterpiece alongside Halloween. The Thing oozes cool from Kurt Russell's portrayal of the rugged MacReady, to Carpenter's deft direction, Rob Bottin's amazingly disturbing creature effects and the driving score of the legendary Ennio Morricone.

This unbelievably rare 1982 copy of the original release of The Thing with wraparound MCA "rainbow" watermarks and two-toned tape has received a Box grade of 8 NM and a Seal grade of 7.5 NM by IGS. It's entirely possible this may be the only time this legendary copy of this classic film ever comes to market.
