Description
Day of the Dead VHS 1985 - CGC Home Video 9.4 and Seal A++, Full-Box Slipcase, Horizontal Overlap Seal, Front White Media Watermarks, The Motor City Collection, Media Home Entertainment The original Day of the Dead from 1985, directed by George A. Romero, thrusts viewers into a bleak and post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Originally envisioned in an ambitious setting (that Romero would resurrect for Land of the Dead decades later) the film is set in an underground military bunker where scientists and soldiers clash over the dwindling hope for humanity. Released amidst mixed reviews, the movie eventually earned a dedicated fanbase who appreciated its darker and more intense take on the zombie genre. Fans of Day of the Dead admire its unflinching gore, social commentary, and the iconic presence of Bub, the sympathetic zombie, ensuring its legacy as a cult classic among lovers of gruesome and thought-provoking horror. This extremely rare factory full-box sealed VHS copy of Day of the Dead is believed to be the first release of the film on home video. It comes to us as part of The Motor City Collection, CGC Home Video's first Pedigree. The Motor City Collection is especially remarkable due to the fact that original purchaser would typically write the date that the item was purchased on the price tag, sometimes along with the store name or the street that the store was located on. Unfortunately this copy did not have a price tag with the purchase info, like most of the other Motor City Collection tapes. It has received a grade of 9.4 by CGC, with a perfect Seal grade of A++.
The Motor City Collection is CGC Home Video's first VHS pedigree. The gentleman who originally assembled this unbelievable collection had purchased items as far back as the 1970s beginning with vinyl records. He would typically go out of his way to write the date of purchase on the price tags, as well as other identifiable info like a city, street, or store name. His collection was unknown to even his family until his passing. The majority of the items he'd purchased remained unopened in their original factory shrink wrap.
