Original matte painting from David Copperfield. (MGM, 1943) Vintage black and white matte painting accomplished in pencil, gouache, chalk and charcoal on 28 x 22 in. artist board. Depicting rooftops of an old London town street for the George Cukor adaptation of the Dickens' classic David Copperfield starring W. C. Fields, Edna May Oliver and Basil Rathbone. With the lower part of the buildings and street in the image blacked-out for post-production keying in of live-action footage. With handwritten technical specs and scenic notes in the lower portion of the painting. Exhibiting minor signs of production-use and age. Overall in vintage, very good condition.
