Description
Star Wars Darth Vader CBS/FOX Merging Art with Trading Card by Alice Carter (Topps, 1982-95). This striking Star Wars artwork, titled "Birth of an Empire," captures the imposing presence of Darth Vader, his hands ominously positioned over the merging CBS and FOX logos against a vast galactic backdrop. Created in acrylic by artist Bunny Carter (Alice Carter) for the Just Looking Gallery, the piece measures 18 inches by 17.25 inches and is mounted on a 22-inch by 19-inch window mat overlay, highlighting its professional presentation. This artwork gained recognition in 1982, when it was featured in Video Business magazine, marking a significant moment in Star Wars history as CBS and FOX merged their video distribution rights for the franchise. Further cementing its legacy, the image appears on the back of Topps Star Wars Galaxy trading card #289, which offers insight into the production, promotional, and licensing history of Star Wars. The artwork exhibits handling wear, including scuffing across the overlay, tape wear with yellowed tape, dents, scratches, and additional scuffing on the back. The included Topps Star Wars Galaxy trading card shows wear along the edges and corners, with noticeable whitening on the corners. This visually powerful piece serves as a testament to the saga's expanding influence in both film and home entertainment during the early 1980s.More Information: Alice A.
