Description

Star Wars Droids White Witch Book Art by Alice Carter (Random House, 1986). A striking example of hand-painted book illustration, this Star Wars Droids White Witch Book Art - Last Page is an original production piece by Alice Carter, created for the Droids animated series' tie-in book. Featuring C-3PO, R2-D2, Jord Dusat, Kea Moll, and Thall Joben, the scene captures a pivotal moment as the heroes prepare for their next adventure aboard a starship. Rendered with meticulously mixed media and vibrant colors, this illustration exemplifies Carter's ability to blend dynamic storytelling with rich visual detail, bringing to life the fast-paced excitement of the White Witch racing storyline, a defining element of Droids. The intricate composition and layered ink application mirror the visual aesthetic of the animated series while maintaining the refined precision required for publication.

This one-of-a-kind production artifact is mounted on sturdy illustration board with a translucent ink overlay, a traditional pre-digital illustration technique used to add depth, clarity, and fine detailing before final printing. Measuring 14.5 inches by 11.5 inches overall, with the actual artwork spanning 13 inches by 11 inches, it retains its original dimensions and production integrity. The overlay sheet preserves delicate refinements and color adjustments, making this a rare surviving example of the book's artistic development. Additional production elements include two pieces of blue tape in the upper corners, one in the bottom center, and an off-white overlay with handwritten notes in black pen along the lower edge line. The piece exhibits handling wear, including surface scratching and scuffing across the overlay, as well as minor wear along the back upper left corner and top edge line, where an Alice Carter sticker is affixed in the upper right corner.
