Description
Star Wars Droids C-3PO Original Line Art by Alice Carter (Kenner, 1985). Debuting in 1985, the Droids cartoon series brought the Star Wars universe to Saturday morning television, introducing fresh characters and untold adventures beyond the original trilogy. To accompany the animated series, Kenner released a dedicated Droids action figure line, featuring striking packaging artwork that embodied the show's bold, comic book-inspired aesthetic. Among these figures was C-3PO, whose original line art by Alice Carter presents a dramatic and action-packed scene. The illustration features C-3PO in a dynamic crouching pose, kneeling beside a fallen R2-D2 as a cruiser soars overhead in an alien landscape, reinforcing the adventurous, high-stakes tone of the Droids universe. This original artwork is drawn on art paper measuring approximately 12.375 inches by 10.75 inches, which has been taped to an illustration board measuring 13.25 inches by 11.5 inches and further secured to a protective window overlay measuring 14.375 inches by 12.75 inches. The piece exhibits discoloration and handling wear, including small cuts in the lower right, beneath the cruiser, to the right of C-3PO's left hand, and in the lower left side near R2-D2. Additionally, it features scuffing, whiteout, and airbrushing along each side, though these imperfections are concealed when the protective window mat is down. Notably, the back upper right corner features a "Studio of Alice Carter" sticker, signed by Alice Carter, further cementing its authenticity and direct connection to the original production process. As one of the few surviving Droids packaging illustrations, this piece represents a rare and significant artifact of Star Wars toy history. A prized addition to any collection, it preserves the legacy of Kenner's Droids line and the distinctive visual identity that set it apart in Star Wars merchandising.
