Description

Braveheart (Paramount, 1995), Group of (9) Small Wooden Shields. Original group of (9) small wooden shields measuring approx. 16.5", featuring a centrally riveted metal shield boss for fastening. (5) shields feature 2-leather arm straps fastened with metal rivets to the backside, and (4) shields feature roughly 5" wooden handles screwed to their backsides. Used by Scottish combatants throughout the epic historical drama which depicts Sir William Wallace's (Mel Gibson) rebellion against King Edward I of England (Patrick McGoohan) in the First War of Scottish Independence. Pieces display production age and wear with chipping to the wood finish, stiffening of the leather straps, and oxidation to the metal components. (6) shields have drill holes across their surfaces, possibly to insert arrows during production. Special shipping arrangements will apply. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
