North West Mounted Police (Paramount, 1940), Dan Sayre Groesbeck Concept Artwork. Vintage painting by artist Dan Sayre Groesbeck rendered in acrylic and watercolor on art board measuring 40" x 29.75". One of the artist's concept paintings for DeMille's first film in Technicolor. Groesbeck's concept art was used to help the filmmaker communicate to his crew the style, color, and feeling for a scene. Though concept artwork would eventually become an essential component in film production, DeMille was a pioneer in the field. This dynamic painting appears in the book "Cecil B. DeMille: The Art of the Hollywood Epic". Exhibits age, production wear, pin holes, vestiges of tape glue and staining on verso, edge damage (tearing and staining) from previous matting. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
