Description

The Abyss (TCF, 1989), Captain "Kidd" Brewer Jr. "Lew Finler" Yellow Diving Helmet and Diving Backpack. Original working diving helmet and diving backpack created specifically for the production including (1) yellow angular metal diving helmet, expertly studio painted with rubber hoses and electrical metal tubes, clear plastic face guard, with aluminum handle at the top of the helmet and an integral plate on the left and regulator component on the right. Additional machinery and cables affixed, some are for effect and some are functional. The bottom rim of the helmet features a long black rubber gasket. Interior padded with foam covered in white terry cloth. A piece of gray electrical tape on the mask has "Finler" written in ink (as seen in the film). Measures approx. 18" x 12" x 13. (1) Yellow metal scuba diving backpack with rubber air hoses, valves and electrical metal tubes on top and sides. Gray metal handle at top. Black and silver sticker reads, "W / S / M". Right side features an air pressure gauge. Yellow shoulder straps and blue waist strap attach at back. Measures approx. 27" x 22". Pieces exhibit production wear, scratching to paint, and scratching on the acrylic face mask. Obtained from Western Space and Marine, Inc. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
