Kiki's Delivery Service (Studio Ghibli, 1989), "Kiki" Production Cel with Painted Background. Original hand-painted production 2-layer cel including (1) cel measuring 14" x 9" marked "C-17" on the top right corner featuring a flock of seagulls, and (1) cel measuring 14" x 9" marked "B10" on the top right corner featuring the whimsical young courier witch, Kiki, soaring over the ocean with her cat, Jiji, perched on her shoulder bag. Both cels feature 3-peg holes across the top edge. Studio Ghibli, founded in 1985 by the renowned animator and filmmaker, Hayao Miyazaki, is responsible for bringing to life some of the most beloved animated classics of all time. Known for their distinct and whimsical style, often featuring magical and spiritual undertones, Ghibli has made a definitive mark on the animation industry and brought their unique vision to the world. Included with the lot is a painted blue background measuring 20.5" x 14" rendered in gouache. Cels exhibit light production use and are adhered together with 2-staples across the top edges.
