Description

The Fifth Element (Gaumont, 1997), Hero Mangalore Illuminating & Articulating Bomb in Case. Original Mangalore prop bomb measuring approx. 29.5" x 24.5" x 16.5", constructed from vacuum-formed plastic, metal hinges, red LED bulbs, and various multimedia material. Sci-fi explosive is encased in a 31.5" x 26.5" x 18.5" wooden "steamer trunk"-style case, covered in distressed black cloth with chain and sprocket-driven hinged lid. Wired using XLR cables allowing for multi-staged actuation, the bomb is designed with a ziggurat theme and equipped with a motorized mechanism. When activated, it raises to its full height, and the LEDs light up. Featured towards the film's climax when war-hungry Mangalore mercenaries store the bomb in the Diva Plavalaguna's (Maïwenn Le Besco) luxury suite in the space-faring "Fhloston Paradise" pleasure hotel. Upon their defeat, the alien warriors trigger the bomb as a final attempt to eliminate their adversaries who are trying to flee. Exhibits production and display wear with chipping to the multimedia components, finishes, and tearing to the case's lightweight foamcore lid. Electronics remain untested. Special shipping arrangements will apply. Obtained from Gaumont Film Company. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
