Richard Corben, Horror in the Dark #4, (Fantagor Press, 1991), Cover Painting Original Art. As editor, lead artist, and primary contributor to Horror in the Dark #4, Richard Corben showcased his singular vision with this harrowing cover image. A massive spider looms over a fiery, corpse-littered landscape, rendered with Corben's unmistakable mix of grotesque realism and surreal horror. Though the image does not depict a scene from within the issue, Corben noted in the editorial that it was intended to accompany a story that was never completed due to the series' cancellation. He later reworked the idea into "Falling Angels," published in DenSaga #3, featuring the monstrous "sombosucker" seen here. This painting stands as a chilling testament to Corben's unmatched ability to conjure terror from imagination alone. Rendered in acrylic with an image area of 11" x 16"; matted to 19" x 24". Signed and dated by Corben in the lower left of the image area. In Excellent condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
