Description

Star Trek: The Next Generation (Paramount TV, 1987-1994), Brent Spiner "LORE/Lt. Commander Data" Positronic Brain Headpiece and Electronic Arm Segment. Original fiberglass headpiece measuring approximately 8" x 2.5" x 10", with punched-in brown hair and a hinged rear panel that opens to reveal a 4" x 4" window exposing Lore's (Brent Spiner) positronic brain. Also included is an 11" x 8" section of gold-colored latex worn over Brent Spiner's neck beneath the wig, which housed a later-version electronic brain array with oscillating lights connected to internal wiring. Featuring light-up buttons, painted tech detailing, and wiring that runs down the back to connect to a power source. Sculpted to match Spiner's head for a seamless on-screen fit, the headpiece is mounted on a 12" x 7" foam display form. Data's (and his twin Lore's) makeup and internal mechanical effects were overseen by Michael Westmore, with his son Michael Jr. programming the electronics to blink in a rhythm that mimicked blood flow. Offered here is one of the most complex iterations of the positronic brain, seen in Season 7, Episode 1, "Descent Part II," when Data deactivates Lore, saying, "Goodbye Brother, I love you." Also included is the internal electronic section of Data's arm, featured in Season 2, Episode 9, "The Measure of a Man," when Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) removes Data's arm in court. Constructed from resin and model parts-including glued tank treads, an R2-D2 piece, and kitbashed tech-this piece is the mechanical interface between arm and forearm, measures approx. 3.5" x 3" and is mounted over a circular gray disc. Both components show production wear and age, including paint flaking, brittle latex, and separation of the brain insert from the skull structure. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Personal Collection of Michael Westmore.
