Chris Evans "Captain America" USO Heater Shield from the combat sequence with "Red Skull" in Captain America: The First Avenger (Marvel, 2011). Original superhero prop shield. "Captain America's" (Evans) signature weapon, his shield, is as much of a hallmark of the superhero as his famed patriotism and integrity. In this film, Cap's shield evolves from a simple trash can lid to this USO "heater" version, and later on to the high-tech Vibranium disc-shaped shield. This particular shield was specifically built for Cap's fight sequence with "Red Skull" (Hugo Weaving). Crafted of heavy composite material with plastic film on the front, painted to detail with the stars and bars schematic. Expertly studio distressed. The top center section of the shield has been hollowed out for the sequence when "Red Skull" punches the shield, thereby leaving his fist imprint on the gold fabric-reinforced backing. Both front and rear shots in the sequence were digitally enhanced in the final cut of the film. Leather straps were removed following use, leaving the threaded bolts, to which they were attached, exposed. Measures 25" tall x 19.5" wide x .6" thick. Exhibits production use with intentional distress on front and back of shield. In Very good condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
