Description

Tom Hanks "Chuck Noland" Hero "Wilson" Volleyball Prop from Cast Away (DreamWorks, 2000). Original iconic prop, which serves as "Chuck Noland's" (Tom Hanks) personified companion during the four years that he spends alone on the deserted island. This Wilson volleyball plays a major role in Noland's survival and is one of the key plot devices in the film. Created out of frustration when Noland cuts his hand while trying to make a fire, his tantrum and coincidental bloody handprint on this ball begins his manufacture of the only friend he will have during his 4-year long ordeal. Constructed of an actual volleyball skin, over cast resin internal supporting armature, the expertly painted and studio-distressed prop features faux bloody handprint with eyes scratched in, crude stitching through dried weed wood "hair," and inflation port serving as a nose. Measuring 9" round by 12" tall. Exhibiting production use and handling. In Very Good to Fine condition. Provenance: Donated by production company ImageMovers to a NYC charity auction in 2003 and comes with an ImageMovers COA and letter of provenance from person who bought "Wilson" at the charity auction. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
