Description

Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Move 1967 Portsmouth, U.K. Handbill. An original glossy-paper advertising flyer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience on their first-ever headlining tour, a Nov.-Dec. 1967 jaunt throughout the U.K. Joining Jimi on the trek were "The" Pink Floyd, The Move, The Amen Corner, The Nice, The Eire Apparent and The Outer Limits. This handbill was for the Wednesday, November 22 date in Portsmouth, England.

The flyer features extremely cool artwork of purple & pink with artistic renditions of the JHE and The Move amongst orchids and flowers. The pink color was done with Day-Glo florescent ink, so under a blacklight that color stands out like a Hendrix guitar solo.

The tour featured 31 concerts in 16 cities, playing primarily in theatres, with Hendrix enjoying a strong wind at his back following his legendary performance at America's Monterey Pop Festival earlier that summer. First time ever being offered at Heritage. Measures 7 1/4" x 10" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The body of the handbill itself has light toning and the expected general handling and gentle creasing that glossy paper picks up over the decades. Most of the damage here falls on, and under, the bottom italicized printer's line. It's creased and bent up all the way across, there's a ¼" edge tear (but no paper loss) under "Hastings," a small one under "St." and a 1" diagonal corner crease in the lower left.
