Description
William Stout - "A Fall of Stardust" Portfolio Illustration Original Art (Green Man Press, 1999). William Stout conjures a dream-like vision of Yvaine, the fallen star at the center of Neil Gaiman's and Charles Vess's Stardust, astride a unicorn strolling through an enchanted forest as a pair of foxes race alongside. Created for a special portfolio after an accident left Vess's wife Karen gravely injured, Stout joined comics legends for this portfolio to help illuminate a path toward her recovery. Rendered in Mixed media with an image area of 9" x 14"; plexiglass-front framed to 15" x 20.5". Signed and dated in the top right of the image area by Stout. Exhibited at LACMA, MIA, and AGO as part of the Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters exhibit (2016-2018). Exhibits light handling. Unexamined out of frame with small impressions on back of frame. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions."William Stout is one of the great craftsmen and designers. I worked with him in the early days of development for Pan's Labyrinth. It is from these early working days that I selected this illustration, buying it as a clear example of his Neo-Rackham-esque work." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
