Description
Petticoat Junction (CBS TV, 1963-1970), Group of Filming Miniature Model Trains. Vintage original group of (3) electric 1:16 scale filming miniature trains as seen on the sitcom series Petticoat Junction, including (1) "Hooterville Cannonball" locomotive with distinct hand-painted "8" numberplate, measuring 14" long, (1) C&FW Railroad Coal Car with unique glued-on miniature logs to create the coal bunker upper area, measuring 11" long, and (1) Baggage Car painted green with detachable roof and electronic components inside, measuring 14" long. Each train constructed of wood, fiberglass, metal, glue, electrical wiring, and hand-crafted miniature detailing, all professionally assembled and studio-painted with intricate detailing. Petticoat Junction ran for 7 seasons through the mid-1960s as part of the wave of Rural Sitcoms from the era. These trains were originally built for the Western-comedy film A Ticket to Tomahawk (TCF, 1950) and were then repurposed and used throughout Petticoat Junction including the opening credits. Following completion of the series, they remained in the possession of series creator Paul Henning's family before being originally consigned by his daughter and series co-star, Linda Kaye. Items are in production-used fragile condition, exhibiting handling, wear, and age including chipping, oxidation, paint fade, and detaching to smaller wooden components such as the locomotive's cowcatcher and several miniature wooden logs atop the coal car. Electronic components remain untested. Provenance: Heritage Auctions, "The Comisar Collection", June 2-4, 2023, Lot #89360. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
