Production Personality Camera Negatives (89) of Nichelle Nichols from 1967-1968 and 1968-1969 Seasons from Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount TV, 1966-1969). Vintage original 4" x 5" (1-5, 8-11, 13, 15-28, 30-38) (33) and 2.25" x 2.25" (B-184-1-55) (55) camera negatives and 8" x 10" internegative (1) on Kodak safety film with glossy contact proof prints (editing in red and orange grease pen) of Nichelle Nichols at home and play from 1967-1968 season of Star Trek: The Original Series, by Herb Ball and Fred A. Sabine in July 1967, with India ink on the margin. Born Grace Dell Nichols, Nichelle Nichols was known primarily as a singer and toured with Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton before being cast by Gene Roddenberry for an episode of The Lieutenant in 1964, which never aired due to its racially charged narrative. Nichols wanted to leave Star Trek after one season, but Martin Luther King personally persuaded her to remain the role model from which "the world sees us as we should be seen."
