Description

G.I. Joe Official Space Capsule & Space Adventure Equipment Backyard Patrol Bag (Hasbro, 1966-70). Hasbro's Official Space Capsule was one of the earliest and most ambitious G.I. Joe accessories ever produced, launched at the peak of 1960s space race enthusiasm. This set brought authentic NASA-style detail to the 1:6 scale world of Joe, complete with a Mercury-style capsule scaled to fit the Action Pilot and a vinyl record featuring a dramatized soundtrack of America's first orbital spaceflight. The colorful artwork on the box is one of the most iconic visuals in the vintage G.I. Joe line, and the set helped cement Joe's place in the cultural imagination as more than just a soldier - he was an explorer, a test pilot, and a hero of every frontier.

The box shows significant wear throughout, with heavy edge and corner wear, deep creasing on the lid, and a notable dent to the upper panel edge. The capsule itself is in played with condition, though complete and functional, with its sliding canopy and interior control decals intact. One of the interior handles is broken and separated; however, the piece has been included for those willing to attempt the repair. Included is the orange vinyl record with both paper labels (detached but present), and a full silver space suit with helmet. In addition to the set there is a sealed space suit in an overstock "Backyard Patrol" polybag. The suit's tag has pricing written in pencil, but it is in otherwise excellent condition. See images for further condition details. Items are sold as is. This is a cornerstone piece of early G.I. Joe history - an original 1960s Hasbro design that boldly went beyond the battlefield and into the cosmos. Whether you're chasing Mercury-era nostalgia, restoring a key piece of your childhood space fleet, or seeking displayable vintage packaging, this lot delivers mission-critical charm. Countdown to bidding begins now - don't miss this launch window
