Battlestar Galactica Starbuck Figure (Mattel, 1978). "Just keep smiling. Makes people wonder what you've been up to." The Battlestar Galactica Lt. Starbuck figure, released by Mattel in 1978, is a collectible action figure based on the character from the original "Battlestar Galactica" television series. This line of action figures was designed to capitalize on the popularity of science fiction merchandise spurred by the success of "Star Wars" in 1977. Starbuck comes sealed on a partially unpunched original Battlestar Galactica card, showing some handling wear at the edges and corners. There is creasing running from the center of the card through the character image on the right. The protective bubble has scratches and scuffs, and the blaster accessory has come loose from the taping, floating alongside the figure. The back of the card exhibits further scratching and scuffing throughout, with additional creasing and stressing from the protective bubble's attachment.
