Description
Al Hirschfeld Artwork (Theater Productions, 1973 - 1988), Group of (3) Mike Nichols' Cast Caricature Prints with Personal Note from Nichols. Original group of (3) Al Hirschfeld prints for three of Walton's Broadway collaborations with director Mike Nichols. The unusual pieces, not created for commercial sale or public distribution, include (1) cast caricature artwork from Uncle Vanya (1973) featuring Julie Christie and George C. Scott mounted on foam core measuring 28.5" x 24.5", (1) cast caricature artwork from Hurlyburly (1984) featuring William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver shrink wrapped and mounted on foam core measuring 20.5" x 24.5", and (1) cast caricature artwork from Waiting for Godot (1988) featuring Robin Williams and Steve Martin measuring 24" x 20". The Hurlyburly artwork includes a signed note on back from Nichols to Walton that reads: "Dear Tony, with gratitude and love, Mike". Artwork exhibits storage wear; the Hurlyburly piece exhibits signs of paper warping; the Uncle Vanya piece exhibits a cut through the paper and art on the lower right. The personal Mike Nichols note comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA.Heritage Auctions provides detailed information when available but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
