Abbott & Costello Signed Multi-Picture Contract with Universal Pictures (1940). Vintage original 39-page, 8" x 13" studio contract for the comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello to appear in multiple films for Universal and other studios. This contract was in place for the films Abbott & Costello made from 1941's Buck Privates to 1947's The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap. The contract mentions the "loan" of the team to other studios for a total of 3 feature films, and permits the duo to perform on radio and to do live tours during the run of the contract. Signed in the space for signers, "Bud Abbott" and "Lou Costello" as well as the studio V.P. and Secretary as signatories. The contract bears some handwritten annotation including question marks and underlining of passages or lines of importance to the team, suggesting this copy of the contract belonged to Abbott, Costello or their representatives. With "Universal Pictures Company Inc." embossed blind stamp on signature page. All pages bear 2-hole punches at the top. Exhibiting age, handling and some edge wear and tears not affecting content. In vintage Very Good condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
