Description

Flash Gordon Lot (Whitman/Marx/Esquire Novelty, 1930s-50s). Blasting in from the golden age of space-faring heroes, this vintage Flash Gordon lot brings together four standout collectibles from the height of the character's intergalactic popularity. Released by Esquire Novelty, Marx, and Whitman between the 1930s and 1950s, these items showcase the thrilling legacy of one of sci-fi's most enduring icons. The lot features Flash Gordon and the Witch Queen of Mongo, a Big Little Book published by Whitman in 1947 and based on Alex Raymond's legendary adventure strip, packed with pulpy action from another world. Also included is the Flash Gordon Rapid Repeater toy pistol, released by Marx in 1952-a boldly designed silver and red metal blaster with classic sci-fi styling, complete with a working trigger and a thick, dramatic barrel. For aspiring young space adventurers of the time, the Flash Gordon Space Compass, issued by Esquire Novelty in 1951, remains stapled to its original card with contents untouched. Rounding out the lot is the Flash Gordon Space-Outfit set, also released by Esquire Novelty in 1951, which includes a pair of space glasses, a belt, and a compass, all neatly affixed to a reproduction card.

Each collectible displays various degrees of handling wear. The Big Little Book shows age-related signs such as yellowed pages, corner bends, discoloration, and surface scratching and scuffing. The Rapid Repeater pistol exhibits notable wear with scratches, scuffs, and areas of separation near the trigger and base of the handle. The Space Compass has light surface marks but remains stapled on its original card. The Space-Outfit set is in solid shape with all components unused and firmly attached. The Esquire cards display corner bends, creasing, scratching and scuffing throughout. A stellar collection that captures the fearless energy and bold design of vintage sci-fi adventures.
