Vintage gelatin silver glossy borderless 9.25" x 6" (trimmed) press photograph of Joe DiMaggio, LF, New York Yankees, rookie pre-season, April 1936, with April 24 1936 and later use date stamps, and REVERSED stamp on the verso. DiMaggio's major-league debut came on May 3, 1936, in a game at Yankee Stadium against the St. Louis Browns. On June 24, 1936, DiMaggio tied three major-league records in New York's 10-run 5th inning against the White Sox, hitting 2 home runs for 8 total bases. With Lou Gehrig's MVP season, the Yankees would sweep aside the Giants 4-2 to win the World Series, their first since 1932. From the Collection of Anthony Bruno.
