Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi Archive. This lot commemorates the greatest and most moving collaboration in horror film history, with Karloff family material from Universal's trio of "KARLOFF and Bela LUGOSI" classics of the mid-1930's. The Black Cat lot features a still of Boris and Bela playing the famous chess game and five small negatives of Karloff close-ups; The Raven lot contains an 8" x 10" negative close-up of Boris in the disfigured Bateman makeup, plus two stills, one looking at his horrific reflection and one with Lugosi and Samuel S. Hinds; and The Invisible Ray offers an 8" x 10" full-length portrait and still of the discarded test makeup, and a very rare 4" x 5" candid shot of Karloff on the set with visiting tennis champion Kay Stammers.
