Ronald Reagan and Others Autographed Screen Actors Guild Photo. A b&w 8" x 10" photo taken during a SAG meeting signed in ink by Reagan, Jane Wyman, Walter Pidgeon, Edward Arnold, and Gene Kelly (adding " '47?"). The photo was taken at the Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago, where a guild delegation attended an AFL convention in October 1946. Arnold was president of the Guild from 1940-42; Reagan served in the position from 1947-52, as well as a brief second term from 1959-60; Pidgeon presided over the organization from 1952-57. Arnold became involved in politics in the 1940s, and was mentioned as a possible Republican candidate for the Senate. After losing a closely contested election for LA County Supervisor, he stated that perhaps actors were not suited to run for political office. This is a rare image made unique by the presence of signatures from three Guild presidents.
