Description

Ray Charles 1960 Brooklyn Academy of Music Concert Handbill. An original paper concert flyer advertising Mr. Ray Charles performing an afternoon matinee and evening show in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, October 30, 1960. What's so special about this date is that this very week, "Georgia on My Mind," the biggest evergreen of Ray's career, entered the Top 10 of Billboard magazine's Hot 100 singles chart, and in two weeks' time would lodge itself as the #1 record in the country. Now that's the kind of career timing we love with our concert pieces.

Measures 8 3/8" x 11" and grades to Very Good condition. An edge crease in the black at the top left of Ray's head. An infinitesimal speck of paper missing from the lower left corner tip. Very slight crease to the upper left corner, nowhere near to break color (it's barely visible at all). Light handling and light toning throughout. COA from Heritage Auctions.
