Brian Jones Owned Red Ochre Cotton Moroccan Shirt (Late 1960s). Vintage Moroccan shirt owned by Brian Jones, founding member and guitarist of the Rolling Stones. The handmade three-quarter length garment constructed from cotton, with white silk embroidered embellishments and decorative eyelets to the cuffs and lower half of the shirt. The collar with fastening to the side. Accompanied by a letter signed by Anna Wohlin concerning the provenance. Moroccan fashion was a trend among Jones and his contemporaries, with a known photograph of Paul McCartney wearing a very similar shirt to the present lot. According to Wohlin, Brian Jones acquired this garment on one of his trips to Morocco, and recalls in her letter that "Brian often wore this shirt at Cotchford Farm" in the UK's summer heat. Provenance: The collection of Anna Wohlin, Brian Jones' girlfriend who lived with him at Cotchford Farm in 1969; Bonhams London, June 28, 2017, Lot 115; Acquired from this auction by the present owner. Exhibits light wear consistent with age and use, including some minor thread pulls to the cotton and embellishments. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
