Description
Brian Jones Owned Moroccan Shirt With Nehru Collar (Late 1960s). Vintage long-sleeved shirt owned by the founding member of the Rolling Stones. Constructed from thin muslin, the long-sleeved shirt with decorative black and red printed design in henna, with Nehru collar and button-fastening to the front, faded label to inside collar. In fish-eye view photographs taken by George Harrison at his home in March 1967, Brian Jones can be seen wearing a similarly patterned shirt, including in a selfie with Harrison and Jones' girlfriend Suki Potier. Accompanied by a letter signed by Anna Wohlin concerning the provenance. According to Wohlin, this lightweight shirt was worn often by Brian in the summer of '69. She recalls that Brian "would usually wear this at Cotchford Farm with a pair of white trousers as it was one of his favorite shirts especially as the Summer was so warm in 1969." Provenance: The collection of Anna Wohlin, Brian Jones' girlfriend who lived with him at Cotchford Farm in 1969; Bonhams London, June 28, 2017, Lot 114; Acquired from this auction by the present owner. Exhibits wear and aging including creasing, light staining, multiple holes or areas of fabric loss including to the sleeves, shoulders or back, likely from past moth exposure, the muslin construction being both thin and fragile. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
