Description
Carrie Fisher, Postcards from the Edge (1986), Copy of Novel Manuscript and Author Copy of Book. Original Postcards from the Edge archive including (1) official copy of 193-page bradded novel manuscript with 3-brass brads, (1) letter addressed to Fred Roos from Fisher's William Morris agent stating they believe the book would "make a wonderful movie," and (1) author's copy of the published novel with an interior notecard reading "compliments of 'the author,'" with "the author" handwritten in ink, presumably as a secretarial notation. Manuscript is housed in its original transmittal box, with the book's title hand-printed in blue ink on the exterior edge, and WME messenger label addressed to Roos. A thinly veiled autobiographical novel about Fisher's relationship with her mother Debbie Reynolds, Postcards from the Edge was later adapted into a major motion picture starring Meryl Streep and widely recognized as a public declaration of Fisher's formidable writing talent. Exhibits wear and age, with a small hole in the letter and the original box is torn in places. The poster is for reference only and is not included with this lot. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Estate of Fred Roos.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
