Description
The Escape Artist (Zoetrope, 1982), Group of (3) Scripts Including Continuity Script, Rainbow Shooting Script, and Custom-Bound Leather Script. Original group of (3) scripts from the Zoetrope Company production of the movie, directed by Caleb Deschanel and written by E.T. scribe Melissa Mathison, including (1) custom-bound leather 127-page script (as paginated) with The Escape Artist in gold-embossed title on front and spine, containing a rainbow studio script (numbered 138) with different colored pages for revisions, and studio publicity photos of the main cast, director Caleb Deschanel, producer Fred Roos, and executive producer Francis Ford Coppola adhered to white pages throughout, revised July 1980, with various production stills and reviews pasted to the back section, (1) studio-bound and bradded shooting script for The Escape Artist, with faded blue cover measuring 8.5" x 11" x 1", with handwritten "Roos" and "128" in red and black ink in the top right corner, 127 pages (as paginated), with rainbow pages for revisions, and (1) The Escape Artist combined continuity script, consisting of 8.5" x 14" x 0.5" legal-sized pages, bradded at the top, with stamped number 27 in the top right corner and the "Zoetrope Studios" official logo just under this number along with the movie title. Accompanied by 1-photocopied page of ad design. These various scripts reveal a comprehensive behind-the-scenes making of this coming-of-age story about a teenage magician, Danny (Griffin O'Neal), who follows in the footsteps of his father, an escape artist in the mold of Harry Houdini. The film also marked the last appearances of Jackie Coogan and Desi Arnaz. Items exhibit production wear and age, with faded covers, bumped corners, and cover wear.
