The NeverEnding Story (Warner Bros., 1984), Poster Concept Art and Mockups. Original movie poster concept art accomplished in acrylic on artist's board and depicting an animated version of the Auryn amulet, perched above and below the surface of the ocean, with both golden and silver tails of the serpent glistening beneath a purple and pink sky. Painted area measures 14" x 21" on overall board measuring 20" x 30". This design was not ultimately used for the final poster art, however it did make it through several rounds of mockups, including as offered here a full color 12.5" x 19.5" mockup with text to top and bottom including title treatment, tagline, and credits. Noticeably, the color palette for the mockup was shifted down significantly, enriching the colors present to a much darker scale. Also included is a separate 12.5" x 19.5" mockup for an unused alternate design featuring the Auryn floating in the sky above a desert landscape with a hand reaching down to grab it. This mockup also features title treatment, tagline, and credits and both printed in color with transfer letters for text. Both mockups matted to 19.5" x 26.5". Original art exhibits some signs of wear and age to the outer board area, including bumped corners and some soiling, with central image largely unblemished. Retaining original artist's label on tape reading "Never Ending" on the top corner. Accompanying mockups exhibit some color toning to mats and lifted corners from where glue has loosened. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
