Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount, 1966-1969), Gene Roddenberry First Draft Screenplay with Annotations from Episode "The Menagerie". Vintage original First Draft screenplay for Season 1, Episode 11, "The Menagerie" on hand-typed and mimeograph pages dated "9/21/66" in pencil on upper righthand corner and with heavy annotations by Gene Roddenberry throughout. The episode's release on November 17, 1966 indicates the quick turnaround between the First Draft presented here. With notation on the title page in pencil addressed to D.C. Fontana, the story editor of the series, reading, "Please begin a set and cast list per these 2 acts". This was the first of a two-part episode that was reworked from the original rejected pilot episode, "The Cage". Script exhibits signs of handling and wear including prior creases to the title page lower corner, small front cover stain, smudging from pencil use, and minor bumped corners.
