2010: The Year We Made Contact (MGM, 1984), Group of Concept Artworks. Original group of (11) concept artworks for the 1984 film 2010: The Year We Made Contact, a sequel to Stanley Kubrick's groundbreaking 2001: A Space Odyssey (MGM, 1968), accomplished across multiple sizes of black construction/artist's paper in mixed media including pastel, ink, and pencil. Artworks depict various conceptual ideas for the film including an alien's face, the composition of an eye, and visuals corresponding to space travel. Items range in size from 9.2" x 5" to 23" x 17.5". The group of (6) 12" x 9" sketches are each numbered 1-6 and signed on the lower right corner, "Camille Abbott". Abbott was the production illustrator for this project, whose other credits include Spaceballs (MGM, 1987) and Battlestar Galactica (ABC TV, 1978-1979). These sketches represent early production materials for the project as development progressed towards realizing the visual style for this science fiction epic. Items largely appear virtually untouched, with 1-exhibiting bumps to lower boarder not affecting visuals, and some expected minor corner bumps to several pieces. All items unframed. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
