Description

Forbidden Planet (MGM, 1956), Original "Disintegrator" Production Art. Vintage original production artwork consisting of an original brownline heavily embellished with color and detail. Accomplished in mixed media on 19.25" x 16.25" leaf affixed to a 21.5" x 19.4" board. Brownline lettering identifies the piece as, "Disintegrator:-Set #07 Production #P-851 'Forbidden Planet'." Ultimately realized as the laser turret manned by the crew of the United Planets Cruiser C-57D in their battle with the Monster from the Id. Retains reproduction notes in the margin of the board and an unfinished pencil scribble on the verso. Originally part of Cinefantastique publisher Fred Clarke's personal collection. Exhibits toning and handling, including some creasing and staining to the board. Provenance: Profiles in History, Auction 24, March 31, 2006, Lot #113. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
