Return to Oz (Buena Vista, 1985), Earl Weldon Personal 7th Draft Script. Original 107-page (as paginated) 7th Draft Screenplay for Return to Oz dated 7th February 1984, measuring 8.5" x 11", bound and bradded with pink studio wrap marked "'OZ' / Prod. 0241" on the front cover with handwritten "Earl Weldon's / Do Not Remove" on the top right-hand corner and "WALT DISNEY PICTURES" along the bottom border. The multi-color revised script pages have been handwritten "OZ" on the spine and fore edge and contain additional changes dated through "4 June '84." Directed by three-time Academy Award winning editor Walter Murch and co-written alongside Gill Dennis, the film serves as unofficial sequel to the beloved 1939 classic, The Wizard of Oz, and is based mainly on the second and third books in author Frank Baum's Oz series, The Marvelous Land of Oz aka The Land of Oz (1904), and Ozma of Oz (1907). A much darker take on the source materials, the 7th Draft screenplay is fairly close to the completed film, with only slight variations on dialogue and scene direction from what is present in the final version. Exhibits general handling wear and age, including light scuffing along the borders of the pages. The poster image is for reference only and is not included with this lot.
