The Wizard of Oz (MGM, 1939), Mitchell Lewis "Captain of the Winkie Guards" Display Bust. Contemporary display bust of the Captain of the Winkie Guards (Mitchell Lewis) from MGM's The Wizard of Oz, constructed of cast latex foam rubber expertly detailed and studio-painted in the Witch's distinctive green color, with applied eyebrows and acrylic brown eyes. The impressive and highly detailed display bust is clothed in attire inspired by the Adrian-designed costumes worn by the guards in the original film, including grayish-blue furry Russian-inspired Ushanka hat with matching cropped sweater, necklace constructed of white-painted wooden cylinders and a red yarn tassel, gray pebbled faux leather neck covering with red fabric accents, and 2-red and gray triangular felt ear covers. A single black feather affixed to the soldier's hat completes the imposing look. Overall measures 19.5" x 24" x 12". Exhibits minimal signs of wear and age, including some scuffs and paint loss to the chest cover and some paint fading to the latex. Freestanding substructure and bust support system is constructed of Styrofoam. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
