Description
The Beatles The Savage Young . . . Sealed Unauthorized First Pressing LP Vinyl Record (Savage, BM 69). A rare and collectible bootleg pressing of the Fabs' early recordings, recorded in Hamburg in 1961. Not an official release, there are notable errors/signs on the jacket's front and back to prove its later production status. Listing "This is the . . . . / The Savage Young / Beatles" in the upper portion of the front cover, the double usage of "the" is the first error. As an original version, it does not have "Stereo" printed on the front of the jacket. "BM 69" is printed in black. And it comes in a bag-like wrap.Listing Pete Best as "Peter Best," the songs include "Cry For a Shadow," "Let's Dance," "If You Love Me," and "Sweet Georgia Brown." The back cover has some really questionable information:
"Peter was a Beatle for 2 and a half years and went thru thick and thin with the group . . . only to be fired because of personal jealousies on the eve of the Beatles making their fortune. Posterity records as the fallen idol . . . or the man who lost $25,000,000. These excellent recordings show Peter Best's fine drum work along with his singing with the Beatles."
While Pete was indeed the original drummer, this message overlooks how he kept missing gigs in Germany, forcing the Fabs to scramble to find a last-minute fill-in. And while Pete was fired from the group after being unimpressed by producer George Martin, he was hardly a "fallen idol" or someone who missed out on a $25 million payday. And, he didn't sing with the group on these recordings.
