Steve Allen Letter of Condolence to Altovise Davis. Two-page, typed letter on personal stationery dated June 27, 1990, from Allen to Sammy Davis Jr.'s widow, written shortly after the entertainer's death. It reads in part: "Although I've done a great deal of writing during the years since, I've never felt really comfortable composing a letter of condolence. The words come easily enough, it's just that I'm aware of how little they can do to ease the pain and sense of loss that the bereaved members of a family feel." Allen also writes about a number of brief anecdotes regarding him and Davis. The letter is in Excellent condition with two fold creases. From the Sammy Davis Jr. Estate.
