Ray Charles, Art Blakey 1960 Regal Theatre, Chicago Jumbo Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising The Genius, Ray Charles, performing for a full week of shows at the famous Regal Theatre in Chicago, IL in the summer of 1960. Ray had just bumped up the size of his orchestra to welcome in the new decade and take advantage of what his new label, ABC-Paramount, could do for him. His first single for Paramount, "Sticks and Stones," went Top 40 and was on the charts right now. But it was his very next single that would change the (musical) world: "Georgia on My Mind," which had already been recorded but would be released in September. Art Blakey & His Jazz Messengers, 50's hitmakers The Coasters and jazz vocalist (and Ray sidekick) Betty Carter also appeared. Measures 22" x 28" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition. More Information: The board's edges have a small amount of nudging dings from decades of storage in three places, very insignificant. They're found to the upper left of "R" in "Regal," to the left of "1 Week Starting" and to the right of the last "S" in "Messengers." Lower left corner was dinged, creating a ¾" vertical crease and, visible mostly on the back, a two-inch horizontal crease. Slight surface blemish in the white above "Featuring." A couple of barely noticeable vertical surface creases in the white to the right of the red "His." Printer's anomaly caused a very light blue smudge on the edge over to the right of "Wilson."
