Description

Star Wars Droids Jann Tosh Original Line Art by Alice Carter (Kenner, 1985). Debuting in 1985, the Droids cartoon series expanded the Star Wars universe into Saturday morning television, introducing new characters and untold adventures beyond the original trilogy. Kenner complemented the animated series with a dedicated Droids action figure line, featuring artwork that embraced a bold, comic book-inspired aesthetic. Among the characters was Jann Tosh, a young adventurer who played a pivotal role in the series. This original line art by Alice Carter, created for Jann Tosh's packaging, captures a striking scene of Jann Tosh standing alongside Kea Moll, with C-3PO and R2-D2 in the background inside a small hut as a sandstorm rages outside, emphasizing the atmospheric tension and peril often found in the Droids storyline.

This original artwork is drawn on art paper measuring approximately 11 inches by 11 inches, which has been taped to an illustration board measuring 13.375 inches by 13 inches and further secured to a protective window overlay measuring 14.25 inches by 14.25 inches. Over time, the piece has discolored and displays handling wear, including a small cut in Kea Moll's left leg, a second cut at the top of her head, and another to the right of C-3PO's head, along with scuffing, a circular stain in the upper left, white-out corrections, and wrinkling. Notably, the back upper right corner features a "Studio of Alice Carter" sticker, signed by Alice Carter, further cementing its authenticity and connection to the original production process. As an exceptionally rare surviving piece of Droids packaging art, this illustration represents an integral part of Star Wars toy history. A remarkable collector's centerpiece, it preserves both the legacy of Kenner's Droids line and the distinctive artistic vision that made the series a standout in Star Wars merchandising.
