Description
Batman String Puppet Retail Display and Puppet Lot. This lot contains a Batman "Super-Heroes String Puppet" retail display from 1978 by Madison Ltd. as well as a boxed puppet by the same manufacturer. In addition are three more packaged puppets, two by Ideal from 1965 and one by Durham's from the 1970's. The large String Puppet retail display was distributed to stores to show how the puppets worked. The display would be plugged in and a small motor at top would make the puppet move. The frame of the display is made of chipboard with stickers over the top and bottom. The top panel, sides, and back are cardboard panels that advertise the 3 different puppets they made - Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. The displays came randomly with one of the three puppets inside. In addition to the display is the same batman puppet which is unused in the box. Also unused in the original packages are the cardboard "Action Hero Pocket Puppet" by Durham's, the bagged cloth body puppet by Ideal, and the Ideal Vinyl bodied Batman in the box. The puppet display is in solid, but used condition. There are some stains in spots, a tear on the left side and a few small spots of water damage. The puppet itself has fading but is in overall good condition. The boxed Batman String Puppet is brand new in the box and is still attached to the backer card, however the box has dried tape, crushing and tears with most at the top front. The Durham's Pocket Puppet is still firmly attached to the card in the plastic, but there is some bubble crushing and some waviness to the card. The bagged Ideal Batman puppet is new and unused with wear to the bag and the header card is bent but still unpunched. The boxed Ideal puppet is also new and still bent around the backer card. The cellophane is well attached but the box has some crushing, creases, and small tears.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
