Description

Willie Nelson, Jeannie C. Riley 1969 Allentown, PA Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising the legendary Willie Nelson back when he was solidly entrenched in country music only, performing on a bill with other C&W performers in Allentown, PA on Friday night, June 6, 1969. Jeannie C. Riley was the headliner and riding high on her #1 pop hit "Harper Valley P.T.A."

Big stars and others on the poster include Carl Smith, Lefty Frizzell (misspelled here), George Morgan, Lonzo & Oscar and Nat Stuckey. The latter has autographed the board in light red marker, "Thanks for loving me back! Nat Stuckey." Willie the future outlaw is perfectly positioned in the center of the poster, smiling and embracing his electric guitar. A nice five-color poster of yellow, red, white, purple and green. Measures 17" x 26" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The board has "1969" written in ink above the showtime, and of course country musician Nat Stuckey's signature in light red marker in the lower left area by his picture. There are tack holes in the top two corners, surfaces crease in "WHOL" and "Country" at the top but not breaking the red color, a one-inch diagonal crease in the upper right corner and then a much tinier one on the tip, and a few surface markings and grime from over the years. The bottom is not trimmed, it was just printed very close. The verso has a couple of tape lifts near the center.
