The Ten Commandments (Paramount, 1956), Charlton Heston "Moses" Character Concept Artwork by Arnold Friberg. Vintage painting by Arnold Friberg [American, 1913-2010] rendered in oil on art board measuring approx. 17.75" x 26" [sight: 15" x 23.5"]. This is one of several dynamic character concept paintings that Friberg created for design reference, to serve as a form of elaborate storyboarding. Painting features a hyper-masculine, heroic likeness of Heston in an Egyptian General costume, reflecting the final character design used in his first scene in the film. After having conquered Ethiopia, and establishing an alliance with their king, Moses returns with the royal family and their dignitaries bearing gifts. Entering Sethi's (Cedric Hardwicke) throne room Moses boldly announces, "I bring you, Ethiopia!" Friberg collaborated with legendary costume designer Edith Head and an experienced design team to create the authentic costumes incorporated throughout this truly epic, Old Testament saga. Exhibits minor fabric wear and tearing. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
