Salome Concept Sketch by Erté for Unrealized Production. Vintage concept sketch created by Erté and rendered in gouache presented on white mat measuring 12" x 15". In 1951, DeMille was interested in making a film version focused on the New Testament figure Salome. After contacting Columbia Pictures about borrowing star Rita Hayworth for the role, studio head Harry Cohn stole DeMille's idea and made his own version of the story with Hayworth. This one-of-a-kind piece of early concept art was painted by the visionary artist and kept by the DeMille estate. Includes sketches on the verso. Exhibits age and storage wear. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
