Cecil B. DeMille Pair of Personal Casting Books. Vintage pair of black leather, 3-ring binders filled with indexed alphabetical pages and measuring 8" x 8.25". Each binder contains over 200 pages of typewritten audition and meeting notes with corresponding actor photos. The candid and often cutting remarks from DeMille offer a fascinating glimpse into the casting process for four of his epic films - Unconquered (1947), Samson and Delilah (1949), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), and The Ten Commandments (1956). Charlton Heston, Lauren Bacall, Anne Bancroft, Yvonne DeCarlo, and many other soon-to-be-famous performers are given unexpurgated critiques of their looks and performances. Spanning roughly the last 15 years of his career, these historic documents showcase the exhausting dedication the filmmaker gave to the casting process. Items exhibit age, production wear, staining, and minor scratching. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
