Description

The Crusades (Paramount, 1935), Harold Miles Pair of Concept Artworks. Vintage pair of concept artworks by Harold Miles rendered in charcoal, gouache, and graphite on art board including (1) "Richard the Lionheart Praying" signed by the artist and measuring 27.75" x 22" and (1) "Here Comes the Royal Swing" signed by the artist and measuring 27.75" x 22". Groesbeck's early concept drawings for two scenes that made it to the final release; Richard the Lionheart (Henry Wilcoxon) praying before the Holy City and Richard the Lionheart tussling with his minstrel (Alan Hale) and a reluctant blacksmith. Artworks exhibit production wear and exhibition wear including vestiges of old adhesive and tearing along margins. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
